I-95 Northbound Interstate Preventive Maintenance from
MM 171 to 193 NB

SCDOT improved I-95 by removing station/open graded friction courses (STA/OGFC)—pavement structures with a high degree of friction and replace with cross slope correction and stone mastic asphalt (SMA). Conducted cross slope correction to optimize drainage and safety issues, and SMA is a resistant, durable surfacing material.

Additionally, SCDOT proposes rehabilitating the bridge deck over Pocosin Swamp #1. For remaining bridges, SCDOT proposes completing concrete patching and epoxy overlay—a sealant formulated to withstand extreme levels of traffic and severe elements.
